Risk Definitions

The risk values displayed on the risk tab show the overall population risk, the estimated absolute risk, and the estimated relative risk. These values describe the probability of a patient developing the associated risk.

Overall Population Risk
The overall population risk is the probability that anyone in the population develops the associated risk, regardless of known risk factors.

Estimated Absolute Risk
The absolute risk is the chance that a patient with a given variant will develop the associated risk during their lifetime. In contrast to the overall population risk, the absolute risk describes the lifetime risk based on the patient's genetic variant.

Estimated Relative Risk
The relative risk is defined as the ratio of the risk of disease in individuals with the predisposing variant compared to those without the variant. In the ActX Genomic Profile, the relative risk describes the proportionate risk that a patient with a predisposing genetic variant has of developing the associated risk, compared to someone without this variant.
