Andrew Ury MD., CEO of ActX, spoke at FRONTIERS OF PREDICTIVE ONCOLOGY & COMPUTING III, an invitation only meeting organized by NIH's National Cancer Institute and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

Seattle, WA - August 15th, 2018 - As a leader in the development of new translational technologies used to close the gap between science and physician practice, Dr. Ury spoke today at a special session on “Closing the Gap Between Research and the Clinic: Reaching the Patient with Advances in Predictive Oncology and Computing.”

In his talk, Dr. Ury highlighted the barriers that up to now have prevented rapidly increasing medical knowledge about genomics from reaching most physicians. He discussed the importance of being part of normal physician workflow as they use their everyday tool, the Electronic Health Record(EHR).

Under the guidance of Dr. Ury, ActX is the first company to provide real time genomic decision support to physicians, integrated into the EHR. The ActX Service, known as GenoACT℠ “closes the gap” between genetic research knowledge and clinician action. GenoACT can use genetic data obtained from the ActX screening service or other clinically valid sources of genetic data.

Most major EHR vendors (10 in total) have chosen to integrate the ActX Service within their EHRs. They have identified the value to health systems and physician practices of making precision medicine a core part of physician workflow, using the functionality of GenoACT.

About ActX:
Founded in 2012, ActX helps physicians make better decisions about medical treatment, using a patient's genetic information to guide therapy. Integrated into a physician's normal software tools (the electronic medical record) and workflow, ActX analyzes the patient's genetic information in real time and, for example, alerts the physician if a medication is unlikely to be effective or will cause side effects. ActX can also warn the physician about serious, actionable medical risks.
