ActX Joins Allscripts Developer Program
Introduces practical and affordable genomic decision support for Allscripts EHRs

Seattle, WA – Sept. 12, 2014 – ActX joins the Allscripts Developer Program and announces the launch of its real-time genomic decision support service, integrated with Allscripts TouchWorks® EHR and Allscripts Professional EHR (tm). The integration of ActX into Allscripts’ Electronic Health Record products means Allscripts providers can see genetically based, actionable medical risks as well as alerts about medication efficacy, dosing, and adverse reactions; all accessible within their EHR.

ActX’s innovative solution makes genomics practical for Allscripts clients, ushering in a new era of precision medicine. Based on affordable patient DNA testing, ActX checks each prescription for possible adverse reactions as well as efficacy issues using the patient’s own genetic code. In addition, the ActX application alerts the physician about any serious, actionable medical risks.

“We’re extremely excited to be making the vision of precision medicine a reality for Allscripts prescribers,” says Dr. Andrew Ury, ActX CEO. “Allscripts is a leader in EHR integration, and we’re proud to be offering genomic decision support to their physicians within the Allscripts EHR’s normal workflow.”

“The Allscripts Developer Program was established to speed time from innovation to implementation,” says Stanley Crane, Chief Innovation Officer, Allscripts. “Applying new technologies like ActX, is one of the ways we can help transition healthcare into being more proactive and simultaneously more cost effective. Genetics add important information to the provider-patient discussion about a plan of treatment. We’re excited to partner with ActX and provide this genetic based decision support solution for our clients.”

The ActX – Allscripts integrated solution is available today, and delivers the actionable, evidence based information physicians need, in a way they can trust. The ActX Service is designed for the workflow of busy practices. With ActX, physicians can partner with patients to give them better-informed care, based on genetics.

More about ActX’s applications can be found on the Allscripts Application Store.

About ActX:
Founded in 2012, ActX helps physicians make better decisions about medical treatment, using a patient’s genetic information to guide therapy. Integrated into a physician’s normal software tools (the electronic medical record) and workflow, ActX analyzes the patient’s genetic information in real time and, for example, alerts the physician if a medication is unlikely to be effective or will cause side effects. ActX can also warn the physician about serious, actionable medical risks.
